How A.B.C Works for the Community
The urban beekeeping movement is taking place in cities all over the globe, and we believe it is happening for three reasons: You are intersted in supporting honeybee health in these days beacuse of their depleting numbers, you are intersted in becoming more self-sufficient and or local in your food consuption and production, and you are seeking a sense of belonging within a local community which shares your values for a better future. Apiaries and Bees for Communities (A.B.C) focuses on fulfilling all of these needs! A.B.C, through the planning and coordination of Eliese Watson, works to educate, facilitate, and mentor the urban beekeeping community.

A.B.C is more than just supporting a community of educated beekeepers, we are focused on developing resilience and self-sufficiency in the beekeeping community through collaboration and open-leadership opportunities. By engaging all members of the beekeeping community to become mentors, the opportunities for learning and expansion of membership becomes infinite!
Beginning from the beginning is always hard, so jump in to the middle of it all! For many, beekeeping can be a challenging hobby to take up; you feel alone and like a revolutionary in your community. Finding peers and or teachers in this day and age should not be so difficult! That is why A.B.C is here. We are eager to help you jump in and learn the skills necessary, helping you start by bringing you a community of support! Beekeeping has traditionally gone the way of other aspects of agriculture: an art for the generations past. A.B.C has brought together past knowledge in beekeeping with modern technological tools to make your access to that 'know-how' easy and enjoyable!

Eliese Watson, founder of A.B.C, has worked with her "6 Steps for Creating the Hive Mentality in Communities" strategies to ensure that all facets of the community are supported. Through both A.B.C and the Community Hive Project, this 6 step process has been tested and proven as a fail-safe method of engaging, educating, and supporting individuals apart of the community while allowing the community design to become individual to the culture and values of the members themselves!
Living urban does not mean that you are living seperate from nature. All aspects of A.B.C programming are focused on increasing public participation and awareness in the urban habitat that they live in to increase the quality of life for you within your community!
