Bee Yard Planning

ABC can offer site planning and design consultation to deal with challenging sites in urban areas. Hives require sun and warmth, as well as minimal disturbance to be successful. Challenges often occur with hive planning on small lots where more compact development exists. This is particularly true in Calgarys older neighbourhoods, which have several infill developments in close proximity, or where the orientation of a property seemingly blocks off all available sunlight, which can sometimes be the case in a suburban cul-de-sac.

ABC can provide site planning services to customers in several areas including:

  •   Residential
  •  Commercial
  •  Industrial

Proper site planning will:

Optimize solar exposure to the hive,  Increase honey production,    Minimize hive disturbance,  Mitigate neighbour concerns,  Maintain function of existing yard activities such as gardening, play areas, patios, etc…

How does it work?

There are a few steps involved in site planning:

Site Visit:     The best way to learn about a site is to see in first hand. A consultant will visit your yard, take photos, and take an inventory of the uses in the yard, structures, trees, and look at the surrounding yards as well.

E-mail info@backyardbees.ca for more information.
